Prediction: Arsenal vs Brighton

Best Odds: 3/4

Bookmaker:

Two sides who will be looking to extend on their 100% start, Arsenal will welcome Brighton to the Emirates on Saturday lunchtime.

Arsenal

Starting with the hosts, while Arsenal might have eventually fallen short last season in the race to get their hands on a first domestic crown since 2004, the Gunners have only continued from where they left off back in May. Opening proceedings on August 17th with a routine 2-0 victory at home against Wolves, Mikel Arteta’s squad also laid down an early marker last weekend. Picking up what was an eye-catching 2-0 win away at Champions League outfit Aston Villa, Saturday’s hosts will be looking to extend on their 100% start here. Gaining a real reputation for their defensive steel, the Gunners hav…

Big Match Focus: Man Utd v Liverpool (Sunday 16:30 GMT)

Liverpool are racing clear at the top of the table and it will surely take a miracle for the Reds not to win their first Premier League title.

Jurgen Klopp s side face old rivals Manchester United on Sunday at Anfield, with the Red Devils the only team to have taken points off Liverpool so far this season.

Unbeaten in 38 Premier League matches, Liverpool are overwhelming favourites, though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer oversaw a 4-0 win over struggling Norwich City on Saturday.

Can United stall Liverpool s procession, or will Klopp s men continue their stroll towards Premier League glory?

104 have accrued 104 points across their last 38 Premier League matches (W33 D5 L0); this is a record total by any team across a 38-match spell in the competition’s history, …

Manchester United 1-1 Rochdale (5-3 on penalties): Romero spares Red Devils´ blushes

Sergio Romero saved Manchester United from an embarrassing exit in the EFL Cup as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer s side needed penalties to knock out third-tier Rochdale after a 1-1 draw.

Mason Greenwood put United in front in the second half on Wednesday, the teenager scoring for the second week in a row after netting the winner against Astana in the Europa League.

But the League One side stunned Old Trafford with an equaliser scored by 16-year-old Luke Matheson, who was set up by United academy product Ollie Rathbone.

That sent the game to penalties and when Romero kept out Jimmy Keohane s effort, Daniel James was able to convert United s last kick and complete a 5-3 shoot-out victory.

James nets our fifth and final penalty as advance to the fourth round of t…

Ronaldo to Juventus: Five other stars who prove there´s life after 30

Cristiano Ronaldo s decision to end his nine-year spell at Real Madrid by joining Juventus has sent shockwaves through the football world.

The 33-year-old reached global superstar status after becoming the planet s most expensive player when he joined Madrid from Manchester United in 2009 and has not looked back since.

He might have been overtaken as the game s most costly player since that initial move to Spain, but his move to the Old Lady – reportedly at the cost of €105million – firmly cements his status as the most valuable over-30 in the history of the game.

Thirty has often been viewed as the invisible line when players start to become less attractive to potential suitors, but we have rounded up five other over-30s that, like Ronaldo, prove that th…

Arteta believes Arsenal showed true colours at Leicester City to end damning six-year run

Mikel Arteta felt Arsenal performed with courage to end a damning six-year run by beating Leicester City on Sunday.

The Gunners responded to an early goal from Youri Tielemans to win 3-1 at the King Power Stadium, with David Luiz and Nicolas Pepe scoring either side of an Alexandre Lacazette penalty.

It was their first Premier League win over Leicester since October 2018 and ended a run of 14 away matches without a victory against teams starting the day in the top three of the table.

Before getting the better of the third-placed Foxes, Arsenal s most recent away win over such lofty opponents came in January 2015, when they won 2-0 at Manchester City.

Manager Arteta was proud of the display, especially given their battling Europa League win over…

Toni Kroos wants to retire at Real Madrid

Real Madrid star Toni Kroos said he is planning to retire at the LaLiga champions.

Kroos has enjoyed great success since joining Madrid from Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich in 2014, winning three Champions League trophies and two LaLiga titles among 13 honours.

The 31-year-old midfielder has made 309 appearances for Madrid across all competitions – the most by a German player at the Santiago Bernabeu, surpassing Uli Stielike.

Reflecting on the feat, Kroos – who has scored 21 goals since moving to the Spanish capital – told Real Madrid TV: It s something special. When you look at the Germans who have played here you realise that they are big names: [Gunter] Netzer, [Bernd] Schuster or Stielike.

Overtaking Stielike, who is a club legend, makes …

Sanchez’s agent holds Juventus, Inter talks

Fernando Felicevich, the representative of Manchester United s Alexis Sanchez, has met with Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici and Inter technical director Piero Ausilio to discuss a potential return of the Chilean to Serie A, according to Sky s sources in Italy. Sanchez spent three years (from 2008 to 2011) with Udinese, before joining Barcelona.

Following rather successful spells with the Catalans and Arsenal which he joined in 2014, he moved to United in January last year with Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way as part of the deal, and the transfer is rightly considered as one of the biggest mistakes in recent history. In a season and a half, the 30-year-old has made a total of 45 appearances in all competitions and scored a meager total of five goals in a United…

Juve´s Paratici refuses to comment on Donnarumma amid growing speculation

Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici refused to comment on Milan goalkeeper and reported transfer target Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Donnarumma is out of contract at the end of the season but the star Italy international is yet to re-sign at San Siro amid mounting speculation over his future.

The 22-year-old s contract situation has seen him heavily linked with Serie A rivals Juventus, as well as Manchester United and Chelsea, while Milan have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Lille s Mike Maignan should Donnarumma depart.

Paratici, however, refused to give much away prior to Juve s crushing 3-0 defeat at home to Milan in Turin on Sunday.

Donnarumma is a very good player, he belongs to Milan and tonight we are concentrated on the match, Paratici told Sky S…

Kosovo enjoying a metorioc rise

On Tuesday night, England host Kosovo at St Marys in Group A of qualifying for Euro 2020. The Three Lions are expected to record another qualifying victory, as they close in on a decade of unbeaten qualifiers.

The Kosovan head coach, Frenchman Bernard Challandes caused quite a stir in his news conference on Monday, talking about how his team will press Gareth Southgate’s team.

He spoke with real passion about his team and with a real belief that his team would be more than just another team that would leave St Marys empty-handed. They may well not take anything from the trip to the English capital, but they have made impressive progress in just three years of FIFA membership.

For a country that only declared its independence in 2008 and has just a population o…
