Klopp ´committed to Dortmund´

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp has reportedly ruled himself out of replacing David Moyes at Manchester United.

Moyes left Old Trafford on Tuesday less than 12 months into a six-year contract, and Klopp had emerged as an early favourite to be his successor.

However, the Dortmund boss who signed a new contract until 2018 earlier this season has told the Guardian that he is keen to remain at Signal Iduna Park.

Man Utd is a great club and I feel very familiar with their wonderful fans, he said. But my commitment to Borussia Dortmund and the people is not breakable.

Since Klopp s arrival in 2008, Dortmund have won two Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal and reached the final of last season s UEFA Champions League, where they were beaten by domestic rivals Bayern …

Lorik Cana wants Marseille return

Lazio defender Lorik Cana has revealed his desire to return to former club Marseille after his spell with the Biancocelesti comes to an end.

The Albanian spent four seasons at Stade Velodrome before moving to Sunderland in the summer of 2009, having joined from Paris Saint-Germain, and he captained the side during the final two years at the club.

He has since struggled to prove his worth at Galatasaray and Lazio, and has now suggested a return to Marseille could be on the cards.

“I have two years on my contract after this season, my relationship with Lazio ends in 2016,” Cana told Radio Monte Carlo.

“I hope to renew and then take on one last challenge to end my career. Back in France? Yes, but only if it comes to playing at Marseille.”

Prediction: Juventude vs Atletico GO

Best Odds: 1/2

Bookmaker:

Looking to skyrocket their way into the Copa Sudamericana spots late on Wednesday night, Juventude will welcome Atletico GO to the Alfredo Jaconi.

Juventude

Starting with the hosts, although Juventude might have secured just a single victory from any of their first five Serie A appearances since opening up the 2024 campaign, they should find the mood in their camp at a high. Only making their top-flight return this season, some in Roger Machado’s camp could be looking to punch a shock Copa Sudamericana ticket this year. Last seen over the weekend mounting a second-half comeback away at Brazilian giants Fluminense as they snatched a 1-1 stalemate, the former Gremio boss will be looking to use that rugged performance as a platform to b…

Ings completes Southampton switch

Southampton have completed the loan signing of Danny Ings from Liverpool, according to Sky Sports.

The one-time England international, who’s time at Anfield has been blighted by injury but now has the chance to rebuild his career back on the south coast, having began his career with Bournemouth.

Ings secured his move to Liverpool after four years with Burnley, where he scored forty-three goals in one hundred and thirty appearances, helping them to promotion in 2014.

He has played just twenty-five times for the Reds so far scoring four goals – the last of which coming in a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion towards the end of the last season.

Ings won his one and only senior England cap so far in a 3-0 European Championships qualifying win over …

Record Barcelona signing Coutinho out for three weeks

Barcelona have confirmed Philippe Coutinho will not be able to make his debut until at least the end of January due to a thigh injury.

The 25-year-old, who will finalise a move to the LaLiga leaders on Monday for a reported fee of €160million, has not played since December due to a muscle complaint.

The Brazil star passed his Barca medical on Monday but tests confirmed he will be sidelined for roughly 20 days.

Coutinho is therefore expected to miss Thursday s Copa del Rey clash with Celta Vigo and league matches against Real Sociedad and Real Betis.

He could be available for the visit of Deportivo Alaves on January 28 or, intriguingly, the trip to city rivals Espanyol, where he spent time on loan in 2012.

Manchester United 0 Burnley 0: Heroic Heaton denies Mourinho´s 10 men

An outstanding performance from goalkeeper Tom Heaton against his former club helped Burnley to earn a 0-0 Premier League draw away to Manchester United, who finished with 10 men on Saturday following Ander Herrera s sending off.

United, who also had manager Jose Mourinho sent to the stands at half-time, controlled the play and carved out a host of chances, but were unable to get past the sublime Heaton.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Juan Mata in particular will wonder how they failed to find the back of the net, as the visitors weathered the storm to take a valuable point.

Their cause was helped by the careless dismissal of Herrera, who was booked for late tackles on Dean Marney in each half to receive his marching orders with 22 minutes to go.

The result leave…

Manchester United 4 Bournemouth 1: Rashford, Pogba star in easy win

Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba were the stars of the show once again as they led the way in Manchester United s 4-1 win over Bournemouth, securing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a third successive win since taking charge.

United continued to play with the freedom and zip which has so far characterised the post-Jose Mourinho era, with Pogba and Rashford who have impressed under caretaker boss Solskjaer   key components as the Red Devils wrapped up 2018 by closing to within three points of fifth-placed Arsenal.

A moment of inspiration from Rashford saw Pogba open the scoring early on for the home side, and the pair added further first-half goals to put United in a commanding position.

Nathan Ake decreased the deficit just before the break, but Romelu Lukaku b…

Paris Saint-Germain 1 Real Madrid 2 (2-5 agg): Ronaldo, Casemiro send holders striding through

Real Madrid secured their place in the Champions League quarter-finals as a 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday gave them a 5-2 aggregate victory.

Cristiano Ronaldo s second-half header and a deflected strike from Casemiro were enough to keep the holders on track for a third trophy in a row, either side of a goal from Edinson Cavani.

PSG s frustrations were compounded when Marco Verratti was sent off after picking up a second yellow card for dissent.

Madrid seized the advantage in the tie with two late goals in their 3-1 first-leg win and they managed the clash at Parc des Princes in professional fashion, as PSG, without the injured Neymar, struggled for inspiration in the attacking third.

Zinedine Zidane somewhat surprisingly started Marco Asensi…

Sunderland 2 Liverpool 2: Defoe´s penalty double earns valuable point

Liverpool failed to make significant inroads into Chelsea s lead at the top of the Premier League table after two Jermain Defoe penalties earned Sunderland a point in an absorbing 2-2 draw at the Stadium of Light.

Having cancelled out Daniel Sturridge s opener, the former England striker was again on target from 12 yards after Sadio Mane was penalised for handball having earlier restored Liverpool s lead.

And Defoe may feel it should have been a hat-trick of spot-kicks, with Emre Can having gone unpunished for an earlier handball in the box.

Mane looked to have snatched the three points when a loose Papy Djilobodji header presented him with a tap-in after 72 minutes, but it was his arm that stretched out of the Liverpool wall from a Sebastian Larsson free-kick t…

Ronaldo part of Ten Hag plans but new Man Utd boss yet to decide on captaincy issue

Erik ten Hag says Cristiano Ronaldo is part of his plans, but the new Manchester United manager has yet to decide if Harry Maguire will remain captain next season.

Former Ajax boss Ten Hag was appointed as Ralf Rangnick s successor last month on an initial three-year deal and officially started work at Old Trafford on Monday.

Ten Hag takes over on the back of United s worst ever Premier League season in terms of points, with 2021-22 their fifth successive campaign without any silverware.

The Dutchman has a number of pressing issues to deal with, not least Ronaldo s future and the wider debate over who should skipper United.

Ronaldo scored 24 goals in 38 appearances for United in his first season back at the club, which is 13 goals more than next-best Brun…
