Despite arriving at on an interim basis back in November, the former RB Leipzig boss has failed to offer the Premier League giants any real stability during his four-month reign.

Watching his side crash out of the Champions League at the hands of Atletico Madrid last month, the Reds are also in a real uphill battle if they re to clinch an essential top-four finish.

Inter signing Nainggolan no longer felt important at Roma

Radja Nainggolan is ready for a new adventure at Inter after revealing he no longer felt important at Roma.

Inter shelled out an initial €38million to sign Nainggolan on a four-year contract on Tuesday, though with Davide Santon and Nicolo Zaniolo going the other way their net spend stands at €24m.

The 30-year-old will reunite with Luciano Spalletti, who he spent 18 months playing under at Stadio Olimpico, as Inter look to improve on a fourth-place finish in Serie A in 2017-18, while also preparing to take part in the Champions League for the first time since 2011-12.

Nainggolan, who retired from international duty for the second time in less than a year after being overlooked for Belgium s World Cup squad, claimed he was motivated to move to the Nerazzurri…

Wilshere signs for West Ham

West Ham have announced the signing of Jack Wilshere on a three-year contract after the England midfielder was released by Arsenal.

Wilshere was a free agent after his career-long association with Arsenal came to an end following the appointment of Unai Emery as Arsene Wenger s successor.

The midfielder has not played for England since Euro 2016 but was called up by Gareth Southgate for pre-World Cup friendlies, only to be forced to pull out of the squad due to injury, and he was overlooked for the group that travelled to Russia.

Fitness issues have marred Wilshere s career but the 26-year-old will be able to make a fresh start at West Ham under Manuel Pellegrini.

It feels good, it feels special, said Wilshere, who has family that support West Ham. Man…

Could Raphinha eventually succeed Mohamed Salah at Liverpool?

If Liverpool Football Club were to sign even 10 per cent of the players they get linked with, Jurgen Klopp would have a squad of around 250 players.

However, one name that seemingly refuses to go away from back-page transfer talk concerning the Reds is that of Leeds United winger Raphinha.

The Brazilian has been a sensation since arriving at Elland Road in 2020 from French side Rennes, getting the fans on their feet to marvel at the quickness of his feet.

Unfortunately for Leeds, the natural order of things often means that any club outside of the so-called big six in England who unearth a star player usually end up struggling to keep hold of them for too long.

Links with Manchester United and Chelsea have also not been too far away, but ahead of Marcelo…

Nigeria 2-1 South Africa: Troost-Ekong nets late winner to send Super Eagles through to semi-finals

Nigeria progressed to the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations on Wednesday evening as William Troost-Ekong scored a late winning goal to beat a stubborn Egypt 2-1 in Cairo.

The Super Eagles took the lead in the 27th minute as Samuel Chukwueze steered home at the second attempt. Egypt scored an equaliser against the run of play as Bongani Zungu nodded home in the 71st minute. However, the drama did not end there as defender William Troost-Ekong profited from Ronwen s Williams mistake to score with only one minute of normal time remaining.

Tough South African defence breached

Despite showing plenty of the defensive solidarity and confidence that was on display against Egypt last time out throughout the first 25 minutes of the game, in which Nigeria really struggled…

Kane backs Solanke to succeed at Spurs

Harry Kane has backed Dominic Solanke to succeed at Tottenham after joining from Bournemouth on Saturday.

Solanke signed a six-year contract with Spurs in a record £65million deal and was introduced to the fans ahead of their pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich later in the day.

The striker, who scored 19 Premier League goals for Bournemouth last season, has been brought in to fill the centre-forward gap left behind by Kane last year.

And the England captain believes Solanke will fit nicely into Ange Postecoglou s style of play.

It should be great. Dom s a great player, Kane said.

He plays with high intensity, high speed. For sure, he s going to get good chances in this team with the way that Ange plays. You saw that here with the way two…

Galaxy appoint Onalfo, sign Jones

LA Galaxy have turned to Curt Onalfo as their new head coach, replacing former boss Bruce Arena.

Onalfo, 47, has been promoted from the MLS team s reserve side to fill the void left by Arena, who was named United States head coach last month.

Former USA assistant Onalfo takes the reigns at StubHub Center, having led LA Galaxy II to three consecutive play-off appearances and the 2015 United Soccer League (USL) Western Conference Championship in three seasons.

Onalfo played for the Galaxy in their inaugural 1996 season before venturing into coaching with Sporting Kansas City (2007-2009) and DC United (2010).

I am extremely excited and honoured to become head coach of the LA Galaxy, said Onalfo on Tuesday.

Injured Shaw to miss start of Premier League season for Man Utd

Manchester United have confirmed that Luke Shaw will miss the start of the Premier League season with a calf injury.

The left-back sustained the injury in pre-season training and is set to be out until at least the September international break.

He is expected to miss the Red Devils matches against Fulham, Brighton and Liverpool.

Shaw struggled with injuries last season and was limited to just 15 appearances in all competitions and missed the last three months of the campaign with a hamstring problem.

However, he recovered from that injury in time to represent England in the latter stages of Euro 2024.

United are also still without long-term absentee Tyrell Malacia, leaving Erik ten Hag without a natural left-back, though new signing Noussair Mazr…

UFC superstar Conor McGregor has reiterated he is interested in purchasing Manchester United and has also held discussions over buying shares in Celtic.

McGregor revealed last month he was considering buying United amid the fallout from the collapsed Super League proposal, with the Glazers under pressure to sell up.

Pressed on Twitter whether that remains the case, McGregor said: A conversation came up regarding Celtic first to be honest. To acquire s…

Conte: Top-four finish a success for Chelsea

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte believes finishing in the top four will mean they have had a successful season regardless of losing their Premier League title.

The champions head into Saturday s game with Stoke City 16 points behind league leaders Manchester City, who have left the rest of the division trailing in their wake with their sensational form this term.

Chelsea are still involved in the EFL Cup and FA Cup and have a Champions League last-16 tie with Barcelona to come, leaving them a good chance of finishing 2017-18 with silverware.

But Conte believes their league campaign will be a success as long as they finish in one of the three spots directly behind City.

I think, in this league, to finish in the top four will always be a successful season, he t…
